The Art of Video Editing

This is one of my first ever edits, and though it’s not the best, I’m still proud of it because it was my first edit ever. I totally did not know what to do, and I cannot even navigate through my editing software; thus, this is a learning curve for me. Every process step right from importing footage to adding effects has been full of ups and downs. Nevertheless, every error has led to some insight that enhanced my skills.

It was in 2020 when the world went into lockdown and all my normal activities came to an end that I started doing edits. My schoolwork as well as house chores kept me busy most of the time leaving me with no other option apart from longing for a creative outlet. It happened during one of my countless Formula One watching sessions that inspiration occurred to me. Being a fan of the sport made me realize how I could merge its fan ship with my passion for video editing which had just developed within me recently. Hence, with only determination and passion at hand, it began.

It is now today and video editing has evolved from a mere pastime to something that is part of my being. Thus, it all started as a pastime and later became a passion. Besides Formula 1 edits, I have also diversified into other styles and genres. My projects range from cinematic montages to music videos, through which I get a chance to flex my creative muscles and push myself beyond what others would normally consider as my limitations.

I am not discouraged by the difficulties and frustrations experienced while mastering a new skill. Actually, every problem that comes up is viewed positively as an opportunity for growth and learning. Whenever there are new software troubleshooting problems or even newer methods of editing, I face them head-on with full knowledge that only makes me stronger in the end.

I've been reflecting a lot lately on my experience with video editing. It's difficult to ignore the possibilities this love of mine may present and as I continue to do them I sometimes think to myself when ever I cant do something “why I cant to this, why I haven’t learn anything that could potentially make me learn and do about this”, there’s a lot of challenges that still hinders me from being better like and one of them which is also the biggest challenge is subscriptions and I cant really afford that much in which im limited by the free version of the app .

Do you believe that it could genuinely succeed as a professional path? It excites and terrifies me in equal measure to consider making my interest my career. However, I'm prepared to get started and put in the effort required to truly hone my profession and broaden my skill set. It's all really thrilling because there are countless options!

I'm still learning the ropes as a video editor, all things considered. There is so much more to discover and learn. However, one thing is certain—my passion for editing is stronger than ever. I'm confident that great things are ahead of me as long as that enthusiasm keeps pushing me.

So let's go on to the next phase of my editing journey, which will undoubtedly bring with it more opportunities, successes, and challenges. Who knows where this road may take us? I will, however, be prepared for whatever comes my way.
